Henry is starting to grow into some of the things he got as presents when he was born, for 6-9 month babies.
He got some designer baby clothes from his Uncle Brian's family, the one who is a jeweller in Kerry. He got a John Rocha outfit, and also some pyjamas by designer Jasper Conran. Well, old Jasper must've been up all night dreaming up this fashion forward design. He really is on the cutting edge of baby fashion with this baby blue footie pyjamas with a cartoon bunny on it.
Strike a pose, Henry:

another baby book page
Aug. 12th, 2008 | 12:33 am
I finished another layout. This one is a little 'artier'. I fussed over it for ages which is silly because there's hardly anything to it.

I made it mostly using some freebies from this blog: http://vinniepearce.typepad.com/.
I'm really enjoying myself. Any of the goofiness of it is tempered by the fact that it's not supposed to be art, it's just a scrapbook for a baby. You can't really get snobby about it, iykwim.

Gosh, I have had a busy couple of days. So busy at work, yesterday morning I was sure there was no way we could ever get through the flowers we had and then by the end of today we were cleared out. Pleased as punch, we had a big week.
I did another digital scrapbooking layout. This is my favourite photo of Henry ever, I swear, I could look at it all day. The quote is a lyric, I thought it was My Bloody Valentine but it turns out it's The Telescopes. I don't even remember The Telescopes, but I remember that song so I must have been into it. Anyway, I thought it was a cute play on words.

Henry is so fun lately. He is like a different baby every week. This week, he wants to chat. If I am having a conversation with someone, he will start to babble along like, 'here's what I think'!
Here is a picture of Tanora. She looks pretty. You can hardly tell about her eye. I've looked at it up close recently and it's all healed except it's just a big scar on her lens, I think she has a good bit of vision through it. It's amazing that she is this cat, compared to that kitten K brought home that day. She actually terrified me when I first saw her, I cried while I tried to clean all the pus from her face. I never took any pictures of them when they were kittens, it was too horrific. I think this is the first picture I've ever taken of Tansy. I am so glad we saved them, they are nice cats.

So tired, but I stay up late to keep my pumping schedule. I started taking Motillium to increase my milk supply, and I think it's working, today we didn't have to supplement with any formula! That's a great day:)
Hope everyone enjoyed their Saturday!

buzzy bee

Henry is obsessed with a plastic bee rattle that is part of one of his bouncy chairs. The bee never fails to delight him. When my mom is on Messenger, we put the bee behind the webcam so Henry smiles and laughs and coos for her.

It seems to be the bee's goofy smiley face that enchants him He will chat away to the bee for ages, happy out. The bee means we get to eat hot dinners! Thanks, buzzy bee:)

Holland

I finally went through my pictures of the trip to Holland that Noelle and I made in March. There are pictures of our tours of Phalaenopsis orchid, gerbera, and anthurium nurseries, I really like how some of them came out. More at the Bloomsday flickr.

This video is still so stylish, over 25 years later.
It's only really Andy McCluskey's jumper which lets it down and screams EIGHTIES.

Mr. Woolybottoms

Henry got some cute wooly shorties yesterday! He looks so cute and his little bum is so round and fuzzy in them. Wool is awesome for babies, it is super absorbant so me and Henry both stay dry, and lanolin neutralises urine so they don't smell, love love love it! We got these on Etsy, the colours are gorgeous.
He is so talkative and smiley lately! So much fun. We laughed and laughed today, till my face hurt. What a silly billy that Henry is:)

tonsillitis/Harvey Korman

I have tonsillitis on one side, ouch. It usually goes away by itself. Go away, tonsillitis!
I just found out Harvey Korman died. I loved him, The Tim Conway Show was a big hit with my brother and I, when we were kids. RIP Harvey.

You may remember I was obsessed with Etsy.com and DaWanda.com during my pregnancy. I got some absolutely beautiful things!

The 'namenkissen'/name cushion is amazing, the detail on it is just beautiful, and the colours are perfect. It's from Quilt and Country, a DaWanda seller in Germany. The quilt is by Lajiemarie, a seller on Etsy. It just happened to be the perfect colours!
The little romper that Henry is wearing is one that Ramona
jademondin sent, and they are our favourite things to wear because they are so soft and cuddly! I wish I could find more like that.
Our cloth diapering is going so well! He is far less cranky because they don't feel as wet and clammy as disposables, and he doesn't complain so much when he is changed because they aren't scratchy. Also it doesn't break my heart as much when he poops five minutes after a change because I can just wash it! And his little butt is so fat and cuddly in the cloth, so cute!
By the way, thanks to everyone who sent me kind messages about my birth story. I'm sorry I didn't reply, I find it really hard to talk about. It makes it better knowing people understand.

Henry is such a good baby. The only thing that ever makes him cry is cold butt wiping. Today I set up his Wipe Warmer! He will be so happy. I made a solution of chamomile tea with a few drops of Burt's Bees apricot baby oil and Dr. Bronner's baby mild soap. I have tons of flannel wipes that I bought on Etsy, so they are all soaking right now and getting nice and warm. Everyone thought the Wipe Warmer was a crazy idea, but it turns out that babies hate cold butt wiping, and why should they like it? It sounds like torture.
He is wearing a cloth diaper for the first time right now! We have been using all the leftover newborn disposables that everyone has given us, that their babies grew out of. But today is the day! He hasn't seemed to notice any difference. He just loves to poop:)
Yesterday, though, he did have a screaming fit, kind of for no good reason. That's never happened before. He wasn't wet, hungry, or gassy. He just started SCREAMING. I just held him and patted his back until he cried himself out. I think maybe he was overstimulated? He had been to the doctor in the morning and spent the afternoon in the flower shop, there were a lot of people coming and going. I imagine that I am just lucky that that was a new one for him, I have known babies who were like that all the time. Poor Henry! It broke my heart.
The doctor said he is fine. Henry weighs 9 1/2 lbs, so he is gaining weight, hooray!
